What this medicine is for
This medicine contains a combination of laxatives, which act to relieve constipation.
It can be used to relieve occasional constipation.
Before you give this medicine
Do not give:
- If your child is allergic to any of the ingredients
- If your child has stomach pain
- If your child is feeling sick or being skin
- If your child has a blockage in their intestine
- If your child has an intolerance to some sugars, unless their doctor tells you to (this medicine contains dextrose and sucrose)
- If your child is under 1 year
- For long periods of time (in general more than a week), unless their doctor tells you to
Talk to your pharmacist or doctor:
- If your child has inflammatory bowel disease
Information about some of the ingredients:
This medicine contains 2.8 g total sugars per 5 ml spoonful. This should be taken into account if your child suffers from diabetes.

All the information on this carton will apply to you as well.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding:
You can use this medicine.
How to give this medicine
Check the seal is not broken before first use. If it is, do not give the medicine.
Use the measuring spoon provided. The small end measures 2.5 ml and the large end measures 5 ml.
Children of 1 to 4 years
Take 2.5 ml
At bedtime only
Children of 5 to 11 years
Take 5 ml
At bedtime only
Children of 12 years and over and adults
Take 10 ml
At bedtime only
Give this medicine to your child to swallow.
Do not give to children under 1 year.
Do not give more than the amount recommended above.
If symptoms do not go away talk to your pharmacist or doctor.
If you give too much:
Talk to a doctor straight away.
Possible side effects
Most people will not have problems, but some may get some.
If you give this medicine for a long time, your child may get:
- Watery diarrhoea (which may be severe or have blood in it), fluid and body salt loss
- Severe constipation, muscle weakness, weight loss
- Red or yellow coloration of the faeces or urine
- Heart or kidney problems
If any side effect becomes severe, or you notice any side effect not listed here, please tell your pharmacist or doctor.
How to store this medicine
Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
Use by the date on the end flap of the carton.
Active ingredients
Each 5 ml of oral solution contains Fig Liquid Extract 0.5 ml, Senna Fruit Extract 0.4ml.
Also contains: sucrose, malt extract (containing dextrose), benzoic acid (E210), chloroform, clove oil, peppermint oil, coriander oil, methysalicylate.
